Lake Como Pre-Wedding Photography
Villas, lakeside towns and quiet morning water — a pre-wedding destination with real depth, if you know where and when to shoot.
Why Lake Como
Lake Como gives you three settings in one place: elegant villa gardens, pastel lakeside towns, and open water with mountain light. For travelling couples it is also genuinely practical — around 1–1.5 hours from Milan airports, with ferry connections that let us move between locations without long car rides.
What makes the difference is knowing the lake's rhythm: which towns are quiet at dawn, where the light falls in the morning versus the evening, and which gardens need advance booking. This page is written from that on-the-ground experience.
Scenes We Shoot

Varenna's Lanes & Waterfront
Narrow stone lanes, pastel facades and the lakeside promenade. Best in early morning light, before day visitors arrive — calm, colourful, intimate frames.

Villa Gardens
Historic villas around the lake offer terraced gardens with classic lake views — locations such as Villa Melzi's gardens are a natural fit. Most gardens charge an entrance fee and some have photography rules or opening-hour limits; we confirm current access, fees and booking requirements for your date during planning.

Boat Session
A private boat session is the signature Lake Como experience — open water, mountain backdrops, evening light. Boats are chartered locally with a driver; cost varies by season, duration and boat type. We arrange it and quote it transparently as part of your plan.

Bellagio & the Mid-Lake
Bellagio's stairways and lakefront, plus the quieter corners of Menaggio and Varenna, work beautifully for a sunset finale. Ferries connect all three mid-lake towns, so routes stay relaxed.
Best Time to Shoot
- April–June & September–October: the sweet spot — mild weather, green gardens, softer light and fewer crowds than peak summer.
- July–August: long days and warm evenings, but busy towns and stronger midday light; shoots start early.
- November–March: quiet and moody, some villas and boats reduce winter availability — worth confirming before booking flights.
Whatever the month, we plan around early mornings and evenings, when the light is soft and the towns belong to you.
Practical Notes
- Getting there: Milan (Malpensa / Linate / Bergamo) then train + ferry, or private transfer. We help you plan the arrival logistics.
- Getting around: the mid-lake ferry network is the easiest way to move between Varenna, Bellagio and Menaggio on a shoot day.
- Fees to expect: villa/garden entrance fees and boat charter are separate from photography fees; some locations need advance notice. Everything confirmed and quoted before you commit.
- Walking & footwear: the lanes are cobbled and the villas are terraced — we plan routes with realistic walking distances and time for outfit changes.
What a Day Looks Like
A typical session moves from quiet morning lanes → gardens and terraces → the boat at golden hour, with buffer time for ferry crossings and a change of outfits. Exact routes are tailored to your style and energy — half-day and full-day options are explained on the services page.
